HS2 Railway Workshop by Smallpiece Trust and STEM Ambassadors

Students took part in a workshop hosted by the Smallpiece Trust and STEM Ambassadors where they worked as engineers for the day. The project was based around the engineering involved in designing and building the HS2 railway line. Students had to work as a team to design a new high-tech railway station as well as design and build a railway tunnel based on certain structural strengths and features to accommodate the HS2 trains. Students had to consider budgets and the sustainability of their designs to really feel what it’s like to be an engineer. There were talking toilets at the stations and some very string tunnel design! Well done everyone!
