Food Technician – Part Time
15-20 hours per week – to be agreed, term time only
Apprentices can be considered
CLPT 4-6 – Actual salary £10,747 – £11,109 pro rata based on 20 hours
A fantastic opportunity has become available to join our school as a Food and Nutrition Technician. You will work as part of the Hospitality Department supporting in the preparation and demonstration of practical lessons
working week
Monday to Friday, hours to be confirmed on successful appointment
The role will include:
- Assist teachers with demonstrations and practical Hospitality lessons
- Perform duties in an efficient and safe manner to ensure that an effective technical service is maintained throughout the Hospitality rooms
- Assist with the replenishment of the groceries to ensure a fully stocked department
- Provide individual practical support and advice/guidance to pupils engaged on various projects
- Ensure the most effective use of resources/commodities in the kitchens
- Attend meetings as directed by the Hospitality Team from time to time
- Assist with exhibitions/displays for school open days
- Assist with annual stock-taking operations and maintain relevant parts of the school’s inventory
- Ensure that classrooms are cleared of all practical equipment at the end of the day
- Any other duties appropriate to the grade of the post as may be delegated by the Hospitality Team from time to time
The post holder is required to:
- Undertake a systematic study of practice with a consequent programme of self and professional development to ensure that the necessary skill, knowledge and understanding are kept up to date
- Be aware of and comply with all school policies. In relation to child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality and the Data Protection Act 1998 it is important that all staff keep up to date with current policies and any concerns are reported to the relevant named persons without delay
- To play a full part in the life of the school community, to support its distinctive mission and the ethos
- To act as exam invigilator when required
- To undertake such other duties which may be regarded as within the nature of the duties and responsibilities for the grade of the post as defined and subject to any reasonable adjustments under the Disability Discrimination Act
- Any changes of a permanent nature will be incorporated into the job description
Successful applicants will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to liaise effectively with a wide range of people including teachers, parents, and students.
